When you open a hypercube for the first time, you will be required to download one or more programs (ActiveX) to your PC. This may take from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection. The good news is that this has to be done only once. Then, you will be able to open any hypercube on any website using the program VIEWCUBE™, without having to download these programs again, as hypercubes are run locally on your system.

Operating System Requirements

• Microsoft Windows98 or later; hypercubes cannot be viewed on Linux or on Mackintosh operating systems.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.1 or later (available Here free); VIEWCUBE™  will not run with Netscape or other browsers.

ActiveX Controls

Viewing or manipulating hypercubes in your browser requires two ActiveX controls. The first time an ActiveX control is needed, Microsoft Internet Explorer will attempt to download and install it for you unless your system security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls or disable the automatic download feature.

Depending on your system security settings, you may be prompted during the install process. If so, you should allow the following to be installed:

• DynamiCube by Data Dynamics (the first time you attempt to open a hypercube)
• export2excel by Informed Decisions, Inc. (the first time you use the Export to Excel command)

If you have difficulty downloading or running these ActiveX controls, contact your system administrator to make sure you are authorized to do so.

These controls are guaranteed by a process of signing and will not interfere with other applications on your system. They will occupy less than 300 kilobytes of your hard disk space.
